U13 Championship

Clonmel Town B 3-1 Cashel Town

Deji Williams double secures Clonmel Town win.

Two goals from Deji Williams and an Odhran Russell effort ensured Clonmel Town stayed top of the under 13 championship by way of a 3-1 victory over second placed Cashel Town.Played in blustery wet conditions Town were first to settle and got their noses in front when Mark Guiry was fouled in the box and Deji Williams stepped up to confidently dispatch the spot kick.Ten minutes later it was two nil. Neat inter play between David Donovan and Odhran Russel caused confusion in the Cashel defence and a fine move was finished off by Mark Guiry who gave the Cashel keeper no chance. The second half saw Cashel pile on the pressure and their efforts were rewarded when Cathal Quinn halved the deficit with a fine strike. The goal though seemed to rejuvenate Clonmel Town and Deji Williams second goal of the day with five minutes remaining was enough to ensure all three points stayed in Clonmel.

U15 Premier League

Clonmel Town 0-0 Clonmel Celtic

Clonmel Town had to settle for a share of the spoils with neighbours Clonmel Celtic as defences came out on top in a keenly contested 0-0 draw at a wet and windy Ferryhouse. Kyle Cuddy came closest for Town after 20 minutes. A neat through ball from Cathal Berrigan saw the young striker in space but his well struck effort came back off the crossbar. Towns next chance came from a set piece. Ben Smith’s beautiful delivery was headed goalwards by Brian McKeown but the former Kennedy Cup player was unlucky to see his effort go narrowly wide. The same two players combined again early in the second half. A fine through ball from Smith released McKeown but his shot was saved by the Celtic keeper. Town continued to press for a winner as time ran out and although Man of the Match Ian Healy continued to dominate in midfield they couldn’t create an opening and had to settle for a share of the spoils.
