TSDL Premier League: Clonmel Town 3-2 Peake Villa
David McGrath's late late winner in The Complex ensured Town went seven points clear in the TSDL Premier on Sunday morning. Town of late have developed a never say die attitude winning their last four game in the final five minutes and today was no different. After a tame first half with chances very few Town began to get on top. Tony Scully saw a brilliant shot smash of the cross bar in the opening minutes of the second half. Town finally broke the deadlock in the 56th minute as Scully's inch perfect free kick was headed home by McGrath for the first of his double. Peake to their credit struck back almost instantly as Ronan McGuire finished at the back post. This gave Peake the initiative and on 71 minutes Pippy Carroll finished a goalmouth scramble to put the visitors in front. But yet again Town finished strongly and in the 77th minute Scully rose majestically following Keith Cashman’s perfect cross to power home a header to mount the comeback. Town pushed on and deservingly got their reward in the 89th minute as Aidan McGrath slipped in brother David behind the back four as he slid the ball past the onrushing keeper to give Town all three points. John Delaney Cup Semi Final: Clonmel Celtic 1-2 Clonmel Town (07/08/2016)

Two first half strikes from last year’s Youth Player of the Year Kyle Farrell ensured Clonmel Town’s passage in the John Delaney Cup Final as they saw off the challenge from local rivals Clonmel Celtic defeating them 2-1 in Celtic Park on Sunday afternoon. The game was played in extremely blustery conditions which made it somewhat difficult for both sides to enjoy free flowing football. It was Town who took the early lead in the 8th minute as the busy David McGrath won the ball on the left hand side of the railway end of the pitch and he squared it to Farrell whose wonderful strike swooped past Sweeney in goal to put Town ahead. Minutes later McGrath was unlucky not to double Town’s lead as he latched onto a long ball from Michael O’Reilly in goal and his fine shot was well saved. Town were made wait till just before half time to extend their lead and that again came from the influential Farrell and he dispossessed Brian Waters in the left back position and found himself one on one with the keeper and he slotted home with confidence to give Town a two nil half time lead. Disaster struck for Town with just two minutes gone in the 2nd half as a long ball wasn’t cleared and in stole Ross Condon to make it 2-1 to give Town a lifeline. Town introduced Tony Scully, Aidan McGrath and Jamie Ahearne to add fresh legs to setup as Celtic pushed on in search for the equaliser. In the 62nd minute were awarded a penalty as Jason Hahessy saw red as he was adjudged to have handled on the goal line. Kevin Waters slammed the resulting spot kick off the post to Town’s relief. As the game wore on Town had a big wind swirling in their faces as defending became difficult but Town held firm with Paul Shanahan, Jack Harney and the Birthday boy Keith Browne putting in fine displays. Michael O’Reilly was twice called upon in the final minutes of the game and he pulled off a wonderful save from a glancing header in the dying seconds which kept his side in the game. Town held on and can be proud of their win, battling against the huge gust while going down to ten men and now advance to the John Delaney Final to face St Michaels just as they did twelve months ago. Well done to the Team and Management.
